PSG Institute of Advanced Studies – PSG IAS was founded by PSG and Sons’ Charities Trust in 2006 takes care of the international programmes at PSG College of Technology, with the objective of providing International Education at affordable cost.
PSG College of Technology, an ISO 9001:2000 certified institution is one of the foremost institutions founded by the PSG & Sons' Charities Trust (1926). The College was established in the year 1951 and the Founders wisely decided to locate it in the same campus as the PSG Industrial Institute for effective industry-institute interaction. The college maintains close interaction with several R&D Institutions and institutions of higher learning in India and abroad, through institutional network programmes and collaborative research programmes. It also has close collaborative links with industries in the fields of Automotive, Aerospace, Defence, Textile, Machine Tools, Software Development and Consumer durables. PSG has been the recipient of several prestigious projects and International funding support.
PSG IAS collaborates with well-known universities abroad with a vision to facilitate cross border mobility to students. It has entered into partnerships with Top Tier Universities in the USA, UK, Germany & Australia which enable aspiring students to join these universities and qualify for international degrees in engineering, international business and business management under its unique credit transfer system where the students spend the first two or three years in PSG IAS, Coimbatore and remaining years in a university of their choice abroad.
A university of and for our regions, the University of Newcastle has delivered superior education and world-class research since 1965. The University of Newcastle was commended in the 2012 Review of Higher Education Access and Outcomes for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander People, Final Report for a 'whole-of-university' approach to Indigenous education and research.
Study Materials Science and Engineering
Take advantage of state-of-the-art infrastructure at the University’s Global Innovative Centre for Advanced Nanomaterials (GICAN) to focus on the design and discovery of new materials such as advanced nano materials, functional materials, biomaterials, drug carriers, photovoltaics, electrode materials for batteries and super capacitors, electro catalytic materials, photocatalytic materials, soft materials and useful metal alloys.
The unique program involves a broad range of disciplines such as chemistry, solid-state physics, ceramics, metallurgy, polymer science, engineering, computing, biology, pharmacy, energy and environmental technologies.
About the program
MASTER’S DEGREE THROUGH CREDIT TRANSFER PROGRAM : UON and PSG IAS has signed a 1+1 agreement facilitating PSG IAS students to take first year of coursework at PSG IAS and the second year of course work at UON. During the first year, PSG faculty are teaching the same set of courses which UON also offers, therefore the quality of education is maintained at par with UON standards.
The Master of Materials Science and Engineering offers students the opportunity to participate in both coursework and research. Using state-of-the-art infrastructure available at the world-renowned Global Innovative Centre for Advanced Nanomaterials (GICAN) at the University of Newcastle, students will undertake research related to the design and discovery of new materials, such as advanced materials, nanomaterials, functional materials, biomaterials, drug carriers, photovoltaics, soft materials and useful metal alloys.
- Excellent international state-of-art infrastructure and eminent faculty both at the PSG Institute of Advanced Studies and at the Global Innovation Centre for Advanced Nano materials (GICAN), University of Newcastle, Australia.
- Cost effective, since the expenses at PSGIAS for the 1st year is comparatively less.
- Scholarship opportunities for meritorious students.
- Opportunity to continue for doctorial research.
