Why PSGIAS

Established in 2006, PSG Institute of Advanced Studies, an Institution under PSG group, has been facilitating more than 30 unique International Transfer Programmes. Under this scheme. Students complete the first two or three years of study at PSGIAS at the existing PSG College of Technology campus at Coimbatore. The remaining years of study are to be pursued at the foreign university from USA, UK, Australia or Germany by transferring their credits obtained from PSGIAS. On completion of the programme, the student will be awarded a degree from the concerned international university in the area of study.

This program is made possible by doing the course mapping with the universities abroad, thus enabling an easy transfer to our partner universities abroad. As a testament to the success of this programme, PSGIAS has seen over 1K students getting degree from universities abroad.

“Düsseldorf is a very international city. I did the last year of my bachelor program at HS Dusseldorf. The academic structure of HS Düsseldorf is very good. During my studies I also had the opportunity to do a research project in automation technique. Apart from the academics the exchange program Düsseldorf offers is special. I got to make friends with people from China, Turkey, Mexico, Argentina, USA, and almost all European countries. The meetings arranged by the university and its extra programs like Sprachcafe, Salsa, Breakdance helped me integrate with the people there. Düsseldorf turned into a beautiful place with its Christmas market during winter. Overall the experience that I had in Düsseldorf was very unique and amazing. If I had the same choice to do this course again I would always take it. It has its own challenges but if you could do it, it’s the best.

I’m Harshini Ravi, an alumnus of PSGIAS - Farmingdale State College (2011-2015) in Mechanical Engineering Technology. I started my work as a design engineer in a manufacturing firm located in Farmingdale. I spent one year at Farmingdale State College and I loved every minute of it. This college is a great place to learn things both inside and outside the classroom. Though we had so many cultural difficulties to face, in the end it made us a perfect person to face the challenges in our career. It helped me gain wonderful experiences that I’ll take along with me through my life and into my career and I thank PSGIAS for giving me this great opportunity.

“I am Ram Abinandhan, 2012 to 2016 Indo-US Mechanical Engineering program. The study in two different institutions gave me access to more resources like professors and networking. In Farmingdale State College, the academics are quite different. One is made to be more independent in terms of academics, where an individual has to do constant study to keep going through projects and assignments, which are a part of the validation of credentials. Almost all the classrooms are digitalized and they do not follow the conventional archaic mode of teaching. All students are made to participate in their coursework through field studies and presentations. The focus is to enhance the skill and practical knowledge of students. In addition to academics, students can easily get accustomed to the readily available new living environment. Boarding facilities are good and offer opportunities for students to be with a diversified group, which help them learn many new good things and to build a strong network. On the whole it’s a good experience where one feels proud with a degree from a foreign university “

“We had a great experience at the University of Hartford. I’m very happy to be a part of this kind of collaborative program between PSGIAS and University of Hartford. It helped me get the best of both the Intitutions. At the university we were doing projects with other international students which helped us to gain global exposure and grow as an individual from within. On behalf of my fellow batch mates I would like to thank all the people from PSGIAS and University of Hartford who have helped us.”

Balkiran Reddy

This course with its challenges in every phase helped me to improve my skills and develop confidence and strength to face real life. While PSG gave me a good foundation, USA made me experience a new culture and a different perspective. It’s a perfect choice for every passionate mechanical engineer.
